Featured Family Story

One Family. A Story of Resilience and Hope.

This is one of the vulnerable families supported by Nihira Foundation. The children grew up in a difficult family environment after their abusive father abandoned them and their mother. Their family faced multiple challenges, including disability, homelessness, and limited access to education.

Nihira Foundation stepped in to provide essential support, including scholastic materials, tuition assistance, bedding, and other basic necessities. Through this support, the Foundation continues to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity—helping children access education and giving mothers and families a chance to build a more secure future.

The Challenge:

Children with physical disabilities in rural Fort Portal often remain indoors, unable to navigate uneven terrain or access local schools without assistive devices.

Our Intervention:

Nihira Foundation procures custom-fitted pediatric wheelchairs, crutches, and mobility walkers tailored to the child's physical needs and environment.

The Impact:

Children gain daily independence, attend classes alongside peers, and caregivers are relieved from the heavy physical burden of carrying older children.

Caregivers Building Sustainable Futures

The Challenge:

Single mothers and caregivers of children with special needs frequently face severe economic vulnerability, unable to take full-time employment outside the home.

Our Intervention:

We establish Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), providing seed funds, tailoring workshops, and poultry farming kits to generate sustainable home-based income.

The Impact:

Mothers generate weekly income to pay for nutritious household meals, urgent medical prescriptions, and schooling for all their children.
